Discover 3 unique Romanian cities
4 days / 3 nights
Transylvania - Walachia - Train tours
Self-guided - Short trip - Families - Singles - Comfort
This journey is a large discovery of 3 Romanian attractions, with different architecture, cultural heritage, and atmospheres. You will cross two historical regions, where the past had provided a different and rich patrimony. In Transylvania, it is the Saxon and Hungarian heritage that will overwhelm us by the presence of the fortified churches and citadels. In Walachia, it is the modernity and the mix of western and eastern civilizations that left their mark on both architecture and lifestyle.
Your day by day program
Today you leave Cluj-Napoca to explore new regions in Romania. You head for Sighisoara. This 12th-century medieval citadel, known as one of the best preserved in Europe, will give you the feeling of traveling back in time while walking through the narrow cobbled streets. Tailor’s tower is a real wonder of the medieval architecture. 3* charming hotel in the center of Sighisoara.
Today you’ll visit Brasov: one of the seven cities founded by the Saxons in Transylvania in the 12th century when they were invited to Transylvania to guard the mountain passes. The city has a rich Saxon, Hungarian and Romanian heritage, manifested in a lot of sights worth visiting: The White and the Black Towers, the Black Church, the Council place with the Council House, St. Nicholas Church, the first Romanian school, narrow streets and colored houses, all very well preserved within the old city walls and towers. 3* charming hotel in the center of Brasov.
Today we’ll leave Brasov for a transfer to Bucharest. Known between the 2 world wars as "the Eastern Paris", today is a very eclectic city, where we can see the influences of The Medieval period with its Ottoman occupation, of the modern period with the influence of neoclassical French architecture and of the communist period. Extra-night possible in Bucharest. 4* hotel in the center of Bucharest.

Testimonials
Many thanks for organising such a wonderful trip. Kay and I enjoyed every aspect of our week before the cycling and then the cycling week was excellent too.
Particular things we liked:
The overall shape of the trip was excellent with a good mixture of towns, villages, historical sites and countryside. You prepared our trip exactly exactly in line with what we asked for, with the Bear Sanctuary and walking as well as sightseeing. Many agents don’t listen well but you did.
The walking notes were very clear and worked out perfectly. We only had time for the short option at Balea Lake as it is a long drive to Moieciu de Sus from there. But it was a lovely walk.
We chose the shorter option the next day too as the weather looked a bit uncertain. It was gorgeous and spectacular and in fact the weather was fine, but it saved my legs for a week’s cycling! The Carpatica Lodge didn’t know about our horse and cart booking, but it all worked out fine and it was there on time.
We liked all the hotels. You had clearly chosen characterful boutique hotels for us carefully and they were all good.
Your Roadbook with details of sites to visit and restaurant recommendations and the detailed itineraries you sent during the planning and booking stages were an excellent reference and well worth it. We worked out travelling times using Google Maps, but perhaps you could have mentioned these in the Roadmap. As you said when we met, there are far more things in your Roadbook than there was time for! But that was not a problem. It just means we will have to come back.
All in all, you did a great job for us on both parts of the holiday. Many thanks to you and your colleagues.
