Walks at the foot of Gutâi mountains

After breakfast, you will meet your guide. He will accompany you in the first discovery of the Land of Maramureș, in Desești, where you will admire the wooden church from the UNESCO patrimony. From here, depending on the weather, we can take a walk on an easy hike to Breb, the village at the foot of the mountains, from where we admire the Rooster's Ridge in all its splendor. Here we can visit various craftsmen who still carry on the tradition of carving gates, and we admire other wooden houses with their gates, true keepers of the identity of Maramureș.
You will also take a leisurely stroll around the village to enjoy the fresh nature and scenery of the area.
In the evening you return to the guest house.

Iza Valley & Resurrection Service

Reunion with your guide in the morning. Go on a beautiful hike through the villages on the Izei Valley, after a 1-hour transfer by car. The starting point will be the wooden church from Ieud - UNESCO monument, the oldest wooden church from Maramureș, which you will also visit. From there, they started at a slow pace towards the neighboring village, Botiza. We will also visit a lady from the village who continues the tradition of weaving for a short demonstration and a coffee break.
It is a perfect opportunity to observe people dressed in folk costumes preparing for the Lord's Resurrection.

In the evening you return to the accommodation, and then you can participate in the Resurrection service either in the village or at the Bârsana monastery, to witness the custom of blessing the traditional dishes that will constitute the Easter meal.

The old capital & history lessons

Today you will explore on your own. After breakfast, you will start by visiting the old capital of this region, the city of Sighetu Marmației. The Memorial of the Victims of Communism awaits you on the pedestrian street of the city, the place where a part of the elite of Romanian politics and culture of the last century was exterminated in a tragic way. You can continue the journey with a visit to the Museum of Jewish Culture - Elie Wiesel Memorial House and a visit to the Merry Cemetery in Săpânța. You can also start the day with a mini-trip to Vişeul de Sus, for a ride with the Mocănița steam train and to visit the town of Sighet on the way back.
Last night in these wonderful places.
