A hike to discover two great Romanian massifs. In the first part of the tour, you will explore the Bucegi massif. Then the guide will take you to the mountains of Făgăraş, the highest in Romania. Also known as the "Alps of Transylvania", these are the ski paradise in Romania.
At the end of the trip, a free day to visit the Romanian capital awaits you.
This ski touring holiday in the Carpathian natural areas, in the middle of pastures, sheepfolds and forests, will enchant you. Maybe we will have the chance to discover wolf or lynx prints!
Your day by day program
Beginning of the trip in Bucharest. Welcome at the airport and transfer to the Prahova Valley. Night in a chalet with typical architecture of the region.
Today we will make a first stage in Bucegi, a generous mountain for ski touring with its plateau and its slopes. Several route options for today and tomorrow that the guide will decide according to your wishes and the weather conditions. The highest summit of the Bucegi, Omu, at 2505m, will be on the program one of these two days.
Still in the Bucegi today, we will attack the slopes and if the weather allows us, we will cross the plateau to descend by the north of the massif, to the country of Bran where we will have incredible views of the massif from Piatra Craiului. Transfer by car to the heart of the Făgăraş mountain, approx. 2.5hr. Once in Făgăraş, we will drive to the Bâlea Cascada hotel, at 1234m, for one night.
By ski or with ski lift, we will climb to the top of the Făgăraş massif. From our accommodation at 1234m altitude we will arrive at Cabana Paltinu, a small altitude hotel that will welcome us for 3 nights at 2050 m altitude. From there, the Romanian free-ride paradise is waiting for you.
The multitude of peaks and valleys will offer to each ski touring passionate what he wants. Many corridors more or less wide and steep, but also wooded valleys.
Today, we will have a beautiful stage in this wild, majestic and technical mountain. Beautiful mountain lodges and huts, sharp summits and the glacier lake of Bâlea will be your companions.
Breakfast in the village and transfer to Bucharest. Free afternoon to discover Bucharest. This amazing capital city of Eastern Europe is like no other. You will undoubtedly be gripped by its eclecticism. The city does not easily reveal its charms. But following the guidebook that we will offer you, you will be seduced by the wealth, the diversity of this city between East and West! The architecture and atmosphere, so special of this city, are the result of the Slavic, Latin, Ottoman, socialist and capitalist influences... today, Bucharest is the outcome of all these times, a city steeped in history, blended from different cultures, a city full of surprises and poetry.
